The Results of Kaspersky Industrial CTF 2017 Qualifications Are In
Kaspersky Lab has released the results of Kaspersky Industrial CTF 2017 qualifications. The three winning teams are from Korea, Germany and Japan, respectively.
Kaspersky Lab is organizing the Industrial CTF (Capture the Flag) competition for the third consecutive year. The qualifications were held online on October 6-8, 2017. This year’s tournament is truly international, with 696 teams from different countries participating in qualifications. The top three teams were, respectively, CyKor (Korea), Eat, Sleep, Pwn, Repeat (Germany) and Tokyo Westerns (Japan).
Participants tried their hand at different types of tasks: Application Security, Binary Exploitation, Reverse Engineering, Digital Forensics, Fun, Cryptography, and Networking. Each successfully completed task brought a team a certain number of points, depending on the task’s difficulty level, with the final result calculated as the sum of all the points earned. The top two teams were able to complete all the tasks and the team in the third place completed all tasks but one. Of the 696 participating teams, 227 earned at least some points. The scoreboard can be found on the Kaspersky Industrial CTF website.
The three teams that won the qualifications will take part in Kaspersky Industrial CTF 2017 finals, which will be held on October 24 in Shanghai as part of the GeekPwn international conference – a forum devoted to finding zero-day vulnerabilities in various “smart” devices.
